If you have a tendency toward lying or embellishing stories to make yourself look bigger or better than you really are, don't tell the stories where the people already know you so well that they will immediately catch you in the lie. If you want to pretend great expertise on a particular subject, don't try to fool the people who know a great deal more about the subject than you do.
