When having a hysterectomy, is it better to take both ovaries or to leave one?

It would depend on the reason for the surgery in the first place, if there is a history of ovarian cancer in your family then it would be a choice you would have to consider to have both removed to avoid the possibility of developing ovarian cancer. However, when having a hysterectomy if one ovary is remaining it will allow your body to produce hormones naturally and will avoid the need for HRT due to menopause.
