My local Gap and Old Navy stores no longer take personal checks.?

Gap and Old Navy must have received a critical number of bad checks and that made up their minds. Checks are so much cheaper for the stores than the 2% charged by the credit cards. I don't know what Telecheck charges, so i can't make a decision without knowing that..
